Plant Lipids Startup Challenge 2025

Turning Students into Startup Founders

The Plant Lipids Student Entrepreneurship Program is a collaborative initiative between SSN Incubation Foundation (SSN iFound) and Plant Lipids, a global leader in spice extracts, essential oils, oleoresins, and natural food ingredients. With customers in over 80 countries across the food, beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, Plant Lipids brings deep domain expertise and industry relevance to this program.

This industry-focused pre-incubation program is designed to seed and nurture innovation-driven startups at the student level. It empowers engineering students to solve real-world problem statements provided by Plant Lipids and transform them into viable Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs).

Targeted at engineering students in their 3rd year and above, the program provides a structured path from ideation to validation, with direct mentoring from Plant Lipids experts and startup support from SSN iFound.

Focus Areas

Students will work on domain-specific challenges including:

  • Botanical extraction process optimization
  • Automation in material handling
  • Taste masking and flavor enhancement
  • Natural colors and functional foods
  • Agri 4.0 and value-added farm-based innovations

Key Features

  • Industry-Sponsored EIR (Entrepreneurship In Residence): Monthly stipend for selected student teams over a 6-month period
  • Mentorship Access: Technical mentoring from Plant Lipids and business mentoring from SSN iFound
  • Hands-on Learning: Prototyping, field validation, and industry feedback
  • Startup Pathway: Support to evolve from concept to PoC, with scope for incubation and funding
  • Collaborative Ecosystem: Access to co-working space, peer learning, and startup events within the SSN innovation ecosystem

Program Outcome

The program concludes with a Pitch Day, where student teams showcase validated PoCs. Promising teams will be fast-tracked for incubation, opening pathways for further investment, technical support, and business acceleration through Plant Lipids and SSN iFound.
